Eyes
Ella's eyes really get to me. When I first held her in the delivery room I was amazed by how alert she was. The word "intelligent" kept coming to mind as I stared into her eyes. When Ella's newborn screening test came back abnormal we faced the possibility of her having something that could take away that intelligence. I rarely put her down during those few days, and the thoughts and feelings I had as I held her for the first time played in my head continually. I couldn't stand the thought of her bright eyes dimming. Everything turned out fine, but even so I can't help but spend a good portion of her waking hours staring into her eyes. Like I said before, Ella's eyes really get to me.
